Art Plads begins with art and the belief that meaningful creativity can take more than one form. An original painting may remain a one-of-a-kind work, while a detail, symbol or idea within it can inspire a print, a garment or an everyday object. We also explore cultural symbols and original design ideas through a contemporary lens—starting with the art or idea and choosing the form that serves it.

Art Plads means “a place for art” in Danish. That simple idea is at the heart of what we are building: a place to discover original art, explore thoughtfully created collections, and experience art in new forms. Some works remain originals. Others may become editions, prints, apparel or carefully chosen objects. The art comes first; the product follows.

Behind Art Plads is artist Suraj Sainju. Born and raised in Nepal and now living in Denmark, our creative perspective has been shaped by both worlds—the artistic traditions, symbols and visual richness of our roots, alongside the simplicity, functionality and restraint of Nordic design. These influences shape how we approach art, reinterpret ideas and create. Our Nepalese roots also remain part of Art Plads through original and contemporary works from Nepal and collections inspired by its artistic and cultural heritage.

Art Plads is not defined by one artist, one style or one kind of product. It is an evolving place for original art, cultural and contemporary ideas, curated collections and objects born from them. As Art Plads grows, we hope to open the platform to selected artists, creating new ways for their work to be discovered and experienced.
